So many pictures, so little time...

Today was a mixed up day:

Woke up

Got dressed

Sent Micah to make an appointment at Dr's.

Got everyone dressed

Went to Dr's

Made breakfast

Coffee with Micah

Got lunch stuff at market

Fumbled with computer problem

Made burritos for lunch

Boys washed dishes... then played in the rain

Sorted/Edited pictures

Went to ice cream shop in pouring down rain

Ate ice cream

Got computer working again: complete with internet connection... woohoo!

Made Top-ramen noodles and Chammomile tea for dinner (this is a treat for us!)

Washed dishes

Put babies in bed

Sang a song

Watched A Snoodle's Tale while checking e-mail

Sorted/Edited pictures ... and now I am writing this blog.

That is the general outline with highlights of our day today. It was a strange mixed up day, but one of my main goals for today was to get some or all of the pictures on my card edited and sorted. I got about 200 pictures done, only 250 more to go. Here are some of my favorites! Enjoy!

From last fall:

PrettyPinkPrincess admiring her new undies!!

My Camo Boys!

LittlestBubby helping Guerillaguy with his math

And from Peru:

Only a few days late!

Wow, this is long! Goodnight.

How did my son know? Did he just catch my vibe?

Did I mention something about not having talked with my sons about sexual awareness or something? I think my son is telepathic. You know what he asked me this afternoon? We were talking about when his birthday is as opposed to the doctor given due date.

I quote:

"Mommy, where do babies come out?", figuring this wasn't going to go far... "Well, they live in a special sack inside my tummy and come out a little hole when they are ready," I said, not really wanting to share any more information than the absolute necessary. "Yes, but where is that hole in your tummy?" Knowing now that a vague answer was not going to cut it and knowing he wouldn't give up without a tummy showing, but still fumbling, "Well, the baby lives in there until he's ready and then a special hole opens up and the baby squeezes out." "But Mommy where is the hole?" I'm thinking... why did I even bring up this subject of babies due dates? Why is this so uncomfortable? I mean I don't want to give him more information to work with than he really needs...

In the end I gave him a little more information than he had before, "It's somewhere near my bottom, but it's a special hole just for babies." He'll figure out the rest later when we get there. I'm not really ready to look forward to that. I guess I ought to prepare myself a little more. God really did make our bodies special (in a boyish or girlish sort of way, if you catch my drift) and I want him to realize and feel that same way... SOMEDAY!

LOL! That's really cute! Sometimes the simple answers just aren't enough for them. Sounds like you handled it really well!

How old is he? Have you heard of the "God's design for sex" series? I just recently purchased it and really like it a lot! It answers those questions in a very clear and tasteful way. I would highly recomend it. I must admit it was a bit difficult for me to read the first book to my boys (ages 5 and 3) but I think it was appropriate information to give them. The next book is supposed to be for ages 5-8 but my 5 year old is no where near ready for that one yet.

I just noticed that you are in Peru! My sister has been a missionary in Peru for the last few years and her husband is Peruvian. They are here in the states now though.

Oh, man, your son is a lot more curious than mine. Of course, maybe my son has asked that question but I didn't notice because my answer is easy...they come out of my tummy through an opening the doctor makes. lol. Hmmm...maybe there's an upside to this c-section thing. :-D

Have you seen the international homeschoolers blog?

Pictures in frames?! ...this is a big deal!

Well, I have this bad habit of not putting pictures up or hanging curtains because I never know how long I'll be in one place.

But I'm putting my foot down. I'm changing my ways. I will try not to think about the fact that it is possible I'll have to buy all new fabric in 6mos or else look for somewhere to live that has window exactly the same dimensions! Well, maybe I should give the curtain idea another month... besides maybe by then we'll have news of moving plans

But the pictures are a really good first step... right?!

Pictures are easier to change than wall paper and painting. I packed up some pick and put them in permenant storage this time. I've decided that I'm not going to do that anymore. From now on, since we are military and move often as well, our pix will be our wallpaper. I'll line the living room with the same pix at each house and maybe it will make each house seem like home! The kids have their rooms similiar each time too. Curtains...yea, that's more work. The bedrooms all have them, even our garage, but the living room still needs some. It's the most undecorated room of our house. *sigh* I'll make you deal, I'll not put curtains up if you don't. He he.

I use an adjustable curtain rod and then buy a large amount of fabric. instead of sewing the fabric, I just drape it around the rods and let it hang down on either side of the window. Secure with large safety pins. The great thing is that the pins are hidden, I can reuse the material for anything since I didn't sew it, and it will fit various window dimensions.

But I don't want to get you off track. Pictures are a GREAT start, my friend!

We are military so I know what you mean! I haven't even finished unpacking and got a call yesterday, my husband has decided we are moving across the country on We are keeping most of our stuff here, but I got to thinking, hmm if I haven't unpacked it yet then we probley can store it for another year, so it should not be to hard to pack I gave up on curtains and pics, most the ones I have that make each move go up and the curtains I tack about the windows and fold to

Today - padded bras, household notebook, school - nature study

Well, I'm at a loss. I just can't think of anything to say that anyone would be interested in knowing...

We watched Little House on the Prairie - the one where Laura puts apples in her shirt to make herself look "more grown up", and I fast forwarded that whole part, because I still haven't had to explain those kind of things to my 7 and just turned 8 yo boys (at least not in full detail as far as self-consciousness of their sexuality goes).

Yay! I am really making progress on getting my house in order! I'm currently working on my household manager notebook (I got this idea from LargeFamilyLogistics. I wrote out my 3 NEED TO lists as Amy on Dandelion Seeds suggested in her Boot Camp series... now I'll have to go over them and think on them the next couple of days to make sure their pretty complete before I print them out. I love taking advantage of the ingenuity of these other ladies to save myself time!!

My next project after I finish my notebook is to work on a chore chart for each room explaining what needs to be done... I haven't decided if this will be a really time-intensive project using my digital camera and such, or if it will be really simple.

As far as school goes:

We're doing really well on AOY1 week 3 of the 18wk program. (We actually read ahead several of the books before we left the States since they weren't online, and we don't have a library here in Peru, and I just couldn't afford to buy some of them) We're doing it this way because I'm basically just buying time 'til they are reading more confidently. We finished 95% of the books on AOY0, and we'll also be travelling again in August, so I hope by July/August we'll have time for a break for travelling and then can start in on AOY2 when we get to the States in September where I can buy the books needed for that year! Wow, wouldn't it be great if that works out?

My goal: Work on implementing nature study this week. I've been researching that

yesterday and today. What would be REALLY cool is if I could get some pictures up of our Peruvian birds/plants/nature stuff! Here's a really cool lady that has a cool blog and a really cool website on nature GiftOfFamilyWriting blog: Through the Windowpane .

So, I guess this should be the end of my ramble. I need to get to sleep so that I can have energy in implementing some of my new household plans! :)

Monday, March 27, 2006 - Yay! Good for you!

I must have missed that episode...or is it one of the series they recently made?

I'll have to check out those links later. I always like to read organization ideas.
